We inevitably face tragedy, heartache, and change in our lives. During these times I’ve found myself wanting to fast forward through pain and uncertainty or to rewind life to a time that felt clearer or didn’t hurt as much. Learning how to simply be, here and now with what is can feel both impossible and inescapable. It’s my hope in life and in my work as a therapist to lessen reliance on distraction, avoidance, numbing, blame and shame and to build tolerance for being where we are and resilience from where we have been.
